I like this guy!

I have been part of the advertising and services business now for more than 10 years. I started with a very small agency and later worked for some really large ones. Along the way there were some clients who would end up treating us like dirt(especially us suits). The agency hardly ever cared cos the big bad guys were the ones who’d bill a lot. Now which sensible agency head is going to say no to a client just because he is treating some lowly suit like a piece of %@#.

Now here is an agency with a difference Mothersofinvention. The about you page clearly outlines the kind of client/partner they would like to do business with. This requires some guts, but then Robert Rosenthal has it doesn’t he!

How to promote your blog

Now that i have set up a blog, one of the big problems is getting people to read it and hopefully start a conversation. I have been looking around for information and found some useful stuff. Till i reached Dawud Miracle’s blog. Dawud is a web designer and owner of Healthy WebDesign. This  is what he says about himself “I’ve helped many small business owners just like you plan, develop and implement a successful website. Whether you’re a service professional, consultant, life coach, artist, or small business owner of any type, I can help you.”

Amonst all the stuff i found on the net, i found information listed on Dawud’s blog well researched and practical to implement. This is probably because he too seems to have take up blogging recently and is experimenting with all possible ways to promote his blog. Thanks Dawud!

Welcome to an inspired blog

Hi & Welcome to my blog. My name is Mahadevan (people who know me well and others who think they know me well call me Maddy). I have tried and failed to keep up blogging in the past. That is because I used to write and no one else but me us to read it :) There is no point in atlking to yourself, right?

But today i read this post on Guy Kawasaki’s blog. This guy knows definitely knows a thing or two about blogging apart from other interesting business topics. Also linked to this post was another insightful post by Priya Shah on how to popularise your blog. So here I am giving blogging another inspired shot. Since i got inspired by others’ blogs…i decided to name my blog blogwatching. Watching successful people anyways is a good way to learn new stuff…isn’t it.

Long Live the print newspaper!

We all know that newspapers in developed markets have been loosing ground slowly but surely to the digital media. First it was 24hr TV news channels and now online news is impacting news consumption habits. Newspapers if they continue to exist as they are, will struggle to make a survival in the near future.

It is interesting to note that Sweden’s Post-och Inrikes Tidningar has stopped its paper edition and has gone online. It’s a fate, many ink-stained writers and readers fear, that may await many of the world’s most venerable journals.

You may wonder about what’s the big deal about a newspaper with a paltry circulation of 1000 copies shutting the print edition to go online, but when you look at it from another prespective it seems to make sense. Post-och Inrikes Tidningar is the world’s oldest newspaper. More about it here.
